Green Man Tree & Shrub Nursery is a small family run business, that was borne from a passion for trees and the environment. Situated near Buckingham, and perfectly positioned to supply nationwide, we offer a complete online service. This includes information regarding our current stock and availability, recommendations and advice, and photos of any stock you might be interested in. We aim to offer the complete package from start to finish and pride ourselves on providing the best service for our customers.

Unlike many plants now sold throughout the UK, our stock is all grown outdoors year round. This means that the plants are hardier and better adapted to the local climate.

From small whips to plant a native hedge or woodland, up to larger plantings of mature feature or memorial trees, we can help. We supply a huge range of customers from domestic households and gardens, all the way up to landscape architects, large companies and councils.

Our Ethos

Looking after the environment is at the heart of everything we do here at Green Man. We are always striving to update our practices wherever possible, and to reduce our impact. Our business was started from a love of nature and growing, and that hasn't changed over the years as our business has developed and grown too. 

​

We aim to reduce our carbon and environmental footprint as much as possible, and some of the measures we take include:

- We don't use any herbicides, pesticides or fungicides either on the trees or in the management of the nursery. Instead we encourage large areas around our growing sites of a huge diversity of wildflowers, native plants and trees to increase populations of beneficial insects and encourage natural pest management. We closely monitor all plants for any disease issues and will remove any from the nursery which show any signs that they are not 100% healthy.

- We recycle all of our old plant pots, compost sacks and most other sundries which would usually be thrown to landfill. We are proud to state that we recycle 95% of our waste.

- Having all of our container grown trees on closely monitored drip irrigation systems through the drier months means that we not only water in a much more effective and efficient manner but also reduces our water usage drastically.

​

- We grow all of our tree stock in our bespoke mix of Tree and Shrub compost which is peat-free and organic.

​

- Any stock that is not up to our standards for sale to the public, we plant ourselves on our site to give the tree a new lease of life and allow it to keep capturing carbon.

​

- We leave all of the fallen leaves in the nursery over the winter in order to provide homes and habitat for insects and wildlife.

​

- We donate a portion of our profits to various environmental causes.

How we are different

​

Apart from our focus on sustainability, we are unique from many other nurseries in a number of ways. Firstly, we are a small family run business, and as a small business, we are able to care for each tree individually. From watering and feeding through to formative pruning and checking for disease problems, we are able to produce top quality, healthy trees.

​

We also provide a complete service, from selection advice and recommendations, planting plans and designs, through to a personal delivery, installation, planting, staking and aftercare service. This means that all of our customers can fully engage, from start to finish, with with the curation of their green spaces.

​

Our team is incredibly hard working and are outside in all weathers, come rain or shine, and none of this would be possible without them. Each member of the team is happy to go above and beyond to ensure each and every customers' needs and requirements are met and that they are left smiling from ear to ear.
